Irish Sport Horse Sales is a family business in Flowerhill Equestrian Center in Co. Galway run by Oliver Walsh. The Walsh family came from a little farm near Loughrea in Co. Galway. My grandfather John Walsh use to go from farm to farm with a horse threshing corn for the local people. In 1929, after years of hard work, he could finally afford to buy Flowerhill estate with 250 acres where my grandfather and my father set up a dairy farm and began to breed horses. Today, many years later, I (Oliver) am still continuing the success of their horse breeding business in Flowerhill. And, as seen in the picture, my daughter Zara is looking like she will continue on, too…

It is widely accepted that Ireland has one of the most perfect conditions for breeding horses unmatched elsewhere in the world. At Flowerhill we buy€ all of our horses from local farmers who breed in the surrounding area. We school them with those horses that we have bred ourselves.

The expansion of our business into public sport horse sales was a direct response to the many requests from visitors who came to our equestrian center in Flowerhill in East Galway and who wanted to buy our sport horses from us.

The horses that we provide in Flowerhill Equestrian center are well schooled and highly experienced in various disciplines, like cross country, show jumping, hunting, trekking and eventing. The horses are being well cared for and ridden consistently throughout the year by our staff.

Since the beginning of our business, Flowerhill has grown to be Irelands most popular venue for sport horse sales.
